Basically a Final Fantasy BoTW in Structure, but also majoras mask + kingdom hearts and Valkyrie Profile all in one.Ĭlick to shrink.Steam version with these mods: Its Square's most out there and innovative RPG in decades. A beefy CPU and a very fast drive seem to mitigate the behavior quite a bit but it always seems to be there to some degree.Īs an aside, play lightning returns people. Unfortunately, loading boundaries can be close together and if you are running through a city the experience can be, well, XIII-2 esque (which demonstrates similar fixed loading behavior). The only difference is that those console versions have modest frame drops everywhere else, while the PC version will likely be a locked 60 if it's not loading stuff. The game seems to load new parts of the map as you cross particular boundaries - frequently arches and gates in Luxerion and certain stairways in Yusnaan - and the console versions I think still have sizable framerate drops in those particular locations too. The performance issues in cities and whatnot are present in the console versions too. (Maybe you can mod this version though? I dunno) So far, it seems okay, but not really worth getting over the Steam version, since you can mod the latter with a bunch of goodies nowadays like higher-res textures, FMVs, better character models, the original Xbox or PlayStation button prompts, etc. I haven't tried running vanilla Steam FF13 on my current setup before (I always use FF13Fix), so I don't know if they actually fixed the problems or my current machine can just brute force the game without issue or something. I can't really tell if the performance issues have been fixed or not.Hair rendering is the same as the Steam version, so it has some minor issues in spots. The HUD and menu elements are still the same resolution as the original console releases, so they look pixelated at higher resolutions.Someone else will have to take a look at that I can't tell if the FMVs are the same as the Steam version or if they've been replaced with the FMVs from the Xbox backwards compatible versions. This does retain the optional easy difficulty from the Ultimate Hits International and Steam versions, in case there was any concern about that. The controller button prompts are still grey instead of being colored like they were in the Xbox console version.
